Google I/O brings together developers from around the globe for insightful discussions, expert knowledge from Google leaders, and an exclusive look at the latest product launches. The in-person conference welcomed over 5,000 attendees, while the broadcast garnered nearly 2 million views.
I worked with the Google Events & Experiences team to design the visual identity system and guidelines for the event. This identity extended across various elements, including spatial design, signage and wayfinding, broadcast materials, digital experiences, experiential design, and the keynote presentation.
For the 2024 event, which showcased some of Google’s latest breakthroughs in generative AI, we aimed to create branding that felt innovative, approachable, and optimistic.
We blended Google’s four core colors into dynamic gradients, generating new hues that felt both fresh and familiar. We created a simple black-and-white grid system, which was filled with our gradient colors to represent generative AI. To make the design unmistakably Google, we created an illustration library that built upon our color and grid systems, reimagining iconic Google symbols and easter eggs with a fresh, modern twist.
